i want to paint my malm 6-drawer chest from ikea.?
i got my chest from ikea a little more than a year ago. at the time i really wanted & loved the birch veneer finish. now i want it to be white. however i DO NOT have $139.00 to buy a white chest, nor do i want to because the chest i have is in perfect condition. any suggestions on how to paint it white.

Light sand it, don't go nuts here, your goal is to break the glaze on it, prime it, keep you brush strokes all in the same direction and allow to dry. Paint it and like the primer keep all brush strokes in the same direction especial;ly on large flat front surfaces. DONT use a cheap brush, it makes a big difference, get a good brush and clean out the primer really well. Use a satin or semi gloss paint but keep in mind, any defects such as brush strokes show up more with a higher gloss level.
